According to Wales Online, Cardiff City are on the verge of signing reported Derby County target James Collins on a free transfer from Luton Town.
The Republic of Ireland international is out of contract at Luton this summer.
Collins has been a stalwart for the Hatters, firing the club to promotion up from League Two to the Championship where they have since established in midtable this season.
The 30-year-old has notched an impressive 13 goals in all competitions this season, and his contract situation has alerted several Championship clubs.
The Telegraph claim Derby County and Preston North End are keen, while the Daily Mail this past week added Middlesbrough and Bristol City to the list of suitors.

But the latest reports from Wales claim Cardiff have won the race for his signature.
Football Insider go one further, claiming Collins is undergoing a medical at the Cardiff City Stadium today as he bids farewell to a highly successful spell at Kenilworth Road.
Derby, meanwhile, head into the summer with question marks over their recruitment.
The club’s off-field issues still need to be resolved, with manager Wayne Rooney calling on the club to sort themselves out so he can plan immediately for next season.
Derby must strengthen their attacking options, with the Rams finishing as the lowest scorers in the Championship this past season which nearly saw them relegated.
