According to The Athletic, Chelsea are keen to sell reported Derby County and Leeds United target Baba Rahman as they look to raise cash in pursuit of Declan Rice.

Rahman has barely featured for Chelsea since joining the club in 2015.

The Ghana international left-back spent the past three seasons out on loan. However, this past summer he was widely tipped with a permanent exit from Stamford Bridge.

The Northern Echo, meanwhile, claimed Derby County held talks to sign Rahman while fellow Championship club Middlesbrough were also keen on him.

Ultimately, a deal for Rahman never materialised. The 26-year-old missed out on Chelsea’s squad with Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso battling for the left-back slot.

Now, The Athletic claim the Blues are actively looking to sell Rahman among others in January to help raise cash as they seek an ambitious deal for Declan Rice.

The West Ham United midfielder certainly won’t be cheap and while Chelsea can’t expect a big fee for Rahman, any income for out-of-favour players will help.

Leeds have started their Premier League campaign well. The latest victory over Burnley sees the Whites put nine points between themselves and the threat of relegation.

That said, Leeds may look to add more numbers in January, while left-back could be an area to strengthen with Ezgjan Alioski struggling somewhat of late there.

Derby, on the other hand, need reinforcements in January. The Rams are still in the Championship relegation zone after their unbeaten six-game run ended on Saturday.

A new striker and wide player seemingly tops interim manager Wayne Rooney’s wish-list.

At left-back, Lee Buchanan has established himself as a regular while Craig Forsyth is another option. Forsyth, however, is out of contract at the end of the season.

It’s an area Derby will need to look at, but perhaps not until next summer.
