According to Bild, Darmstadt are expecting offers to arrive in January for reported Derby County and Nottingham Forest striker target Serdar Dursun.

The 29-year-old has been in superb form this calendar year.

With 15 league goals in 2020, no player has scored more than Dursun in the Bundesliga II over the past 12 months and his form hasn’t gone unnoticed.

According to Bild, Derby offered £900,000 for him during the summer window.

Darmstadt, however, turned down the Rams’ approach despite Dursun’s contract at the German club expiring at the end of the current campaign.

Forest, meanwhile, were also linked (The Mirror paper edition, October 5, page 43).

The latest from Sport Buzzer in November claims Hannover 96 are also keen.

And Bild now report how Darmstadt are expecting offers in January. Sporting director Carsten Wehlmann admits he is fearing the worst given the striker’s importance.

“We’ll have 21 games from January. Serdar has scored six goals in nine games. This shows how important it is to us. A striker of this quality is hard to come by. “

Darmstadt will face a big decision in January. Either cash in or hope he can fire them to promotion to the Bundesliga come the end of the season.

Either way, it’s unlikely Dursun will remain at the club beyond this season. At 29, the striker will be looking to make his big move and land a spot in Turkey’s national team.

Standing at 6ft 3inch, he offers more than just goals and assists. Dursun is strong in the air, good at linking the play while his physical attributes allow him to bully defenders.

Derby have been crying out for a player of his ilk following Chris Martin’s exit.

The Rams have struggled enormously this season. One win in 15 with just seven league goals scored sees the east Midlands club sit rock bottom of the Championship table.

Derby will surely hope to get another chance of signing Dursun in January. Forest and Hannover, however, may now just be two of many other potential competitors.
