According to Kicker, Derby County have made an offer for Darmstadt striker Serdar Dursun though the Bundesliga 2 club are holding out for around £1.5 million.

The Rams are desperate to sign a new striker before the October 5 deadline.

Phillip Cocu’s side have started their Championship campaign with three straight defeats, scoring just one goal ahead of their trip to Norwich City on Saturday.

A tall, physical target man is Derby’s top priority right now.

And the latest reports from Kicker claim the Rams have offered for Dursun. The 6ft 2inch striker netted 16 goals in Germany’s second tier last season.

The German editorial go on to say that Darmstadt are holding out for around £1.5 million, while Derby’s offer to date is lower as the club seek to strike a deal.

Dursun has improved dramatically over the past two seasons.

The 28-year-old has netted 30 goals in his last 71 games, with World Today claiming his performances prompted a lucrative three-year offer from China during the summer.

Dursun, however, turned down the approach due to greater value on his sporting prospects.

The striker’s contract at Darmstadt expires in the summer of 2021. The Bundesliga 2 side would benefit more from a sale now rather than losing him for free next year.

Derby, meanwhile, have done some excellent business this summer, picking up the likes of Nathan Byrne, David Marshall, Jordon Ibe and Kamil Jozwiak on the cheap.

The Rams have evidently gone in a different recruitment direction compared to previous years, and Dursun is another who represents a potential bargain.
