According to Football insider, Leeds United have tabled a six-figure fee for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Hayden Roberts with Derby County also keen.

The 18-year-old defender has been making big strides in Brighton’s academy.

Already rated at England U19 level, Roberts has attracted the interests of several cubs this summer as he enters the final year of his contract at Brighton.

A recent report in The Telegraph claimed Derby and RB Leipzig are interested.

But the latest reports from Football Insider say newly-promoted Leeds United have launched a six-figure offer of their own as they look to prize him away.

The Whites have wanted to sign £30 million rated Ben White all summer.

However, with the former Leeds loanee starting Brighton’s opening game defeat at home to Chelsea, it seems Leeds have now turned to another Seagulls defender.

The Daily Mail call Hayden Roberts a ‘young leader’ with big potential.

But Brighton are currently loaded with central defenders with Dunk, Adam Webster, Dan Burn, Joel Veltman, Ben White and Derby loanee Matt Clarke on the books.

Roberts faces a difficult task breaking in at the Amex Stadium. Brighton, on the other hand, may see the benefit in cashing in on the central defender now.

Derby, meanwhile, should consider a move after their lack of long-term defensive options.

The Rams’ current centre-back pairing consists of new signing Mike te Wierik and last season’s Player of the Year Matt Clarke who joined for a second loan spell.

Curtis Davies is in his final year at Derby, as is Craig Forsyth. Andre Wisdom and George Evans make up other options, but arguably neither are naturals there.
