According to Hampshire Live, Derby County are interested in signing Southampton defender Pascal Kpohomouh on a free transfer.

It’s claimed that Kpohomouh has been told he can leave Southampton and won’t be getting a new deal when his contract ends this summer.

Middlesbrough and Stoke City are also keen though, so Derby won’t have a free run at the defender.

Who is Pascal Kpohomouh?

Kpohomouh, 19, came through at Manchester City before joining Southampton on a three-year deal in 2018.

Able to play for Guinea, Kpohomouh was actually an England international at Under-17 and Under-18 levels.

Primarily a centre back, Kpohomouh has never played for Southampton’s first team but did play 13 times in Premier League 2 last season.

How interested are Derby in Kpohomouh?

It’s stated that Derby have already taken Kpohomouh on trial in order to get a look at him and consider a summer deal.

He then played twice for Middlesbrough’s Under-23’s and once for Stoke, playing as a right back for the Potters.

Derby were keen enough to take Kpohomouh on trial, so he could become the latest young recruit alongside the likes of Bayo Fapetu and Luke Plange, who have arrived from Arsenal.
