According to Football League World, Derby County are monitoring former Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah who could leave Queens Park Rangers this summer.

The former Reds winger joined his boyhood club QPR last summer.

Adomah, however, only made seven Championship starts for the Hoops this past season. He made another 27 appearances off the substitutes bench.

Ultimately, QPR’s switch to a wingback system during the second half of the campaign saw Adomah fall out of favour, and therefore placed questions over his future.

Football League World claim he is currently weighing up his option. Additionally, several Championship clubs including Derby and Bristol City are monitoring his situation.

Derby’s attacking woes:

The Rams must add some much-needed attacking quality this summer.

Wayne Rooney’s side finished as the lowest scorers in the Championship last term, resulting in a season of struggle with Derby staying up on the final day of the season.

Additionally, Lee Gregory and Patrick Roberts have since returned to their parent clubs following loan spells while Martyn Waghorn’s contract at Pride Park expires this summer.

Adomah has plenty of natural ability, and a decent record against Derby too.

“He is very positive. All the time he creates something. He takes the ball and something can happen, giving us the point against Charlton, he changed the game against Derby. He started (matches) with us, playing 90 minutes, but he has an impact, he has a lot of experience, and he is a very important player for me and for the squad, of course,” former Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi said of Adomah in 2019 after he starred in a 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over the Rams.

Derby certainly need some extra impetus in wide areas. Moreover, with finances tight, Adomah could represent a cheap short-term option should QPR allow him to leave.

The 33-year-old has plenty of experience and remains a top player on his day.
