According to Sky Sports, Monaco value Derby County target Jonathan Panzo at £4 million with the club looking at the centre-back to bolster their defensive ranks.

Derby made their first summer signing with David Marshall arriving from Wigan Athletic.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper follows Mike te Wierik in joining up with the Rams this summer, with the Dutch defender signing a pre-contract agreement in January.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Matt Clarke remains a target as Derby seek to bring him back to Pride Park for a second season loan spell following a successful past 12 months.

But the latest name to be linked with the Rams is Jonathan Panzo.

The former Chelsea defender has made just two appearances for Monaco since joining the Principality club in 2018. Last season, he joined Cercle Brugges on loan.

Sky Sports claim Derby want him. However, it seems like the Rams aren’t quite on Monaco’s wavelength as the French side value the youngster at £4 million.

It remains to be seen what Phillip Cocu’s budget is like this summer. But, with a FFP investigation hanging over Derby’s head, such a deal right now appears unrealistic.

Panzo would seemingly welcome a move back to England.

But it seems the Rams’ best hope of getting him would be on a loan deal, perhaps with an obligation to sign him next summer when the FFP situation is clear one way or another.
