According to a report in TEAMtalk, Derby County are interested in signing Peterborough United winger Marcus Maddison.
The report claims the Rams, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City are keen on him. However, Posh value him highly and won’t sell in January.

Previous reports say that Maddison has a £2.5 million release clause. With his contact expiring next summer, the League One club surely won’t want to lose him for free.
But Derby’s chances of signing him now appear to be slimmer compared to the summer. Maddison’s form and situation has reportedly alerted Premier League interest.
The 25-year-old has posted an incredible five goals and five assists in seven games this season. He looks levels above League One, and everybody knows it.

Derby have dealt successfully with Peterborough before. The Rams signed Jack Marriott in the summer of 2018, and he has since become a fan favourite at Pride Park.
The East Midlands club should have built on that trust with Posh by going for Maddison. The exits of Mason Mount and Harry Wilson left a big void to fill this summer.
Derby, however, opted against bolstering their attacking areas. It now appears to be a poor and ill-thought move, with Phillip Cocu’s side struggling for creativity and goals.

Maddison could have made a big difference at a reasonable price. Now, the player’s list of suitors reportedly grows and a jump to the Premier League could be on the horizon.
