According to a report in the South London Press, Charlton Athletic could seek a January deal for Blackpool’s Armand Gnanduillet who has also been linked with Derby County.

The French-born striker has been in terrific form this season. He has notched 12 goals in all competitions, including five in his last four League One games.

A recent report in Football Insider claimed Derby are keen on him. Gnanduillet’s contract expires next summer, with the Rams potentially plotting a cut-price move in January.

But Derby seemingly aren’t the only Championship club keen on the 6ft 4inch powerhouse. Charlton are also looking for extra firepower upfront.

The Addicks reportedly came very close to signing Gnanduillet late on in the summer window. A move was said to be at an advanced stage before collapsing.

Gnanduillet could be a handful for Championship defences:

Lee Bowyer’s side started their Championship campaign in excellent form. They even beat Derby 3-0 at the Valley in a game the home side completely dominated.

The London club, however, have since struggled for form. The absence of top scorer and key striker Lyle Taylor through injury has left them with few attacking options.

Gnanduillet would provide Charlton with a different option. Standing at 6ft 4inch, the 27-year-old is strong, good in the air and a constant nuisance for opposing defenders.

Derby, despite having several options upfront, arguably miss a player of his mould.

Rams boss Phillip Cocu enjoyed plenty of success at PSV Eindhoven with 6ft 2inch striker Luuk de Jong leading the line. At Pride Park, however, the Dutchman has struggled to find the right formula with both Jack Marriott and Martyn Waghorn not suited to playing as a lone centre-forward.
