According to The Sun on Sunday (Nov 17, Page 67), Stoke City have joined the likes of Derby County and Middlesbrough in the race to sign Sam Cosgrove.
The Aberdeen striker has attracted plenty of interest in recent weeks.
Cosgrove has netted 16 times for the Scottish club this season, helping the Dons in their attempts to close the gap on Old Firm duo Rangers and Celtic.

A recent report in TEAMtalk listed several Championship clubs with an interest. Among them were Derby, Boro, Charlton Athletic and Brentford.
Cosgrove came through the youth ranks at Everton. Standing at 6ft 2inch, he was likened to Duncan Ferguson who coached him at youth level at Goodison Park.

The 22-year-old, however, was released from Everton and failed to impress at Wigan Athletic. He ended up at Carlisle United before joining Aberdeen in January 2018.
The Dons’ gamble to sign an unproven youngster has certainly paid off.
Cosgrove is excellent in the air, and comfortable with his back to goal. He has scored over 35 goals since joining Aberdeen and he seems ready for a return to England.
TEAMtalk claimed Aberdeen will seek a fee in the region of £2 million. And new Stoke boss Michael O’Neill may see that as a worthy piece of business in January.

Derby’s rivals Stoke are currently in the Championship’s bottom three. The Potters have struggled for goals all season, scoring just 17 times in 16 league games.
