Derby County’s quest to bring in a goalkeeper this summer continues after a recent update on Daniel Iversen.

Paul Warne has already emphasised the certain positions in which he is looking to improve this summer ahead of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, with midfielders undoubtedly taking priority.

Depth has been increased in the centre-of-the-park for Derby County this summer with the arrivals of Ben Osborn and the loan signing of David Ozoh, both of which have arrived with Premier League experience.

Kenzo Goudmijn and Ebou Adams have also been brought in to bolster Warne’s midfield options.

Another position that is in desperate need of reinforcements is goalkeeper, with Josh Vickers being the only first-team shot-stopper on the books at the club.

However, any search for a goalkeeper is set to continue as a result of the finances that will need to be involved in order to bring Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen to the club.

Derby County target Daniel Iversen given a ‘stunning’ £1.5million price-tag

Derby County are reportedly ‘looking elsewhere’ for a goalkeeper this summer after Leicester City’s asking price for Danish goalkeeper Daniel Iversen was revealed.

Per Alan Nixon on Patreon, Leicester City want a ‘stunning £1.5 million’ for a player who ‘comes with a whacking £25,000-a-week contract’.

Derby County looked likely to strike a deal for the shot-stopper with Iversen being ‘keen to move’ away from Premier League side Leicester City, however the Rams are looking on to pastures new, as well as Sheffield United and ‘other Championship rivals’, who have backed out of a deal too.

Derby County must move quickly for alternative goalkeeper target

Although the lucrative finances surrounding a deal to bring Iversen to Pride Park will be a blow to Warne’s plans ahead of the new season, they still have the option of ensuring a deal can be completed for their alternative goalkeeper target, Jacob Widell Zetterstrom from Djurgårdens IF.

The Rams had reportedly agreed a £1.4million fee to bring in the shot-stopper, who will be a decent addition to a new Championship club.

The 6ft6 man will be needed to be brought in at Pride Park quickly to ensure that Warne has a guaranteed goalkeeper as part of his plans, especially after he made it abruptly clear that he was looking to bolster the position.

The signing of a goalkeeper is crucial for the upcoming season, and is a decision that Derby County must get correct. Zetterstrom appears to be a brilliant alternative to Iversen, the Rams just need to ensure that this deal gets over the line.
