Former Derby County boss Gary Rowett has been confirmed as the new manager of Millwall following the resignation of Neil Harris, the club’s official website report.

Rowett is taking charge of his fourth Championship club having had previous spells at Birmingham City, Derby County and most recently Stoke City.

The former Derby fullback isn’t popular at Pride Park after ditching Derby for Stoke only a month after losing in the playoff semi-finals to eventual winners Fulham.

But Rowett may turn to Derby to help bolster his Millwall squad. Here we name three current Rams players he could look to bring in at The Den.

Andre Wisdom:

Rowett signed Wisdom for Derby in a £3 million deal in the summer of 2017.

The former Liverpool man started 31 Championship games for Derby in the 2017/18 campaign. However, Rowett’s exit saw the player cast aside.

Jayden Bogle is now Derby’s number one right-back. Wisdom has made just nine Championship appearances in almost 18 months and this season he has featured just once.

Wisdom’s contract expires in 2021. Derby, however, may look to offload him on the cheap next summer and Millwall could help him get his career back on track.

Tom Huddlestone:

Tom Huddestone was another player signed by Rowett. The former England international was an influential figure in the 2017-18 campaign in the ‘quarterback’ role.

Rowett is a big fan of the player and his passing ability.

Current Derby boss Phillip Cocu is also an admirer with Huddlestone being a first-team regular before his recent injury. However, his contract expires next summer.

Derby aren’t likely to offer him a new deal with Huddlestone turning 34 next year.

Curtis Davies:

Curtis Davies was also signed by Rowett and he played every game for Derby in the 2017-18 campaign. He originally signed a two-year deal but had a one-year extension.

The 34-year-old’s contract expires next summer. Derby will look to make a new defender or two a top priority next summer, and it’s likely Davies will be allowed to move on.

Millwall may be in the market next summer if they receive a big offer for Jake Cooper. Rowett could see Derby’s current captain Davies as an ideal short-term option.
