According to South London Press, reported Derby County and Birmingham City target Joe Pigott is set to leave AFC Wimbledon on a free transfer in the summer.
The 27-year-old striker is out of contract with the League One club this summer.
Pigott has been making a name for himself with the Dons, topping the club’s scoring charts for the past few seasons and notching 15 goals in 31 games this term.
TEAMtalk claimed last November how Derby, Birmingham City, Bristol City and Huddersfield Town were all keeping tabs on him ahead of the January transfer window.
The South London Press claim it was Wycombe Wanderers who pushed hardest for his signature, though Pigott is said to be biding his time as he eyes a Championship move.
With Wycombe looking unlikely to survive this season, the 6ft 3inch striker may feel it is in his best interests to wait until the summer to decide on his next club.
Both Derby and Birmingham are also deep in the relegation scrap this season.
The Blues have slumped to second bottom after a run of just one win in 11 games. Aitor Karanka’s side are short on goals, and they need to turn their form around quickly.
Birmingham will be pinning their hopes on new signing Sam Cosgrove finding his feet.
Derby, meanwhile, are the lowest scorers in the Championship with 17 goals in 27 games as Wayne Rooney’s side also find themselves in the relegation zone.
The Rams have improved under Rooney, picking up three wins from their last four games. However, the lack of goals at Pride Park is a big worry for the side.
Chris Martin’s exit last summer left a void, while Martyn Waghorn and Colin Kazim-Richards are both out of contract this coming summer. A new striker will be a top priority.
