According to RMC Sport, reported Derby County and Swansea City target Samuel Grandsir has turned down a move to Kansas City as he seeks to remain in Europe.
The 24-year-old attacker has yet to feature for AS Monaco this season.
Monaco boss Niko Kovac was tasked with trimming his first-team squad containing over 40 players last summer and Grandsir was among those tipped to leave.
According to Sky Sports and Wales Online, Derby and Swansea were keen on him, but the Championship duo weren’t willing to pay his £2.3 million asking price.
A deal for Grandsir ultimately never materialised with the Frenchman remaining at Monaco.
Now, RMC Sport claim the Principality club are open to loaning him out after Grandsir rejected the chance to move to the United States with Sporting Kansas City.
It is said Grandsir wants to remain in Europe while his contact at Monaco expires in 2023.
Swansea are gunning for automatic promotion from the Championship this season, and Grandsir could be a decent option for the Swans going forwards.
Steve Cooper’s side strengthened this week with the arrival of Connor Hourihane.
But Derby arguably need a player of Grandsir’s ilk more.
The former France U21 international can operate out wide or through the middle.
The Rams are the joint-lowest scorers in the Championship with 15 goals. A new striker and added creativity would provide a big boost for Wayne Rooney’s side.
Grandsir has plenty of pace and power. Breaking in at Monaco has been tough, but the ability is there and a loan move away from the club could be the opportunity he needs.
