Garry Monk told Sheffield Wednesday’s official Facebook page doesn’t fear losing Morgan Fox despite talk suggesting Derby County or Nottingham Forest could sign him.

Morgan’s contract at Sheffield Wednesday expires in the summer of 2020.

A recent report in TEAMtalk claims Derby and Forest are among a host of Championship clubs eyeing Fox in a potential January move for a cut-price figure.

But Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk isn’t concerned by the reports.

Morgan’s been fantastic. All I can say on that side of it is all those things will be taken care of. I’ve got no doubt about that. I’ve spoken to the club. When we all get to sit and go through that together, which should be into next week, with all the people that need to be sat down in that process, then we’ll do that.

Fox has been a regular for the Owls under manager Garry Monk.

The 26-year-old has started 14 Championship games this season. He was in the starting XI for the recent 1-1 draw at Derby County and 4-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest.

Forest have left-back options in Yuri Ribeiro and Jack Robinson. While the Reds may seek to strengthen in January, they may prioritise other areas.

Derby, meanwhile, are also well-stocked at left-back. Scott Malone and Max Lowe both compete for a regular place, while Lee Buchanan has shown promise for the U23s.

Manager Phillip Cocu will look to bolster his Derby side in January. That said, a new central defender and a right winger are certainly two areas which need looking at first.
