The Teesside club beat a host of rivals to his signature. Le Parisien claim both Derby and Stoke saw loan bids rejected for him earlier in the transfer window.

The 22-year-old hasn’t made the best of starts at the club. Woodgate, however, sees his potential and tips him for a move this coming summer.

Harold Moukoudi is a young lad, plenty of ability, huge potential. Nothing has changed my opinion, he can go and play in the Premier League. Someone will get their hands on him next year, people will look to buy him in the summer.

Moukoudi has yet to taste victory for Middlesbrough. Instead, Boro have drawn four and lost four of their last eight Championship games.

The St Etienne defender is rated at £4 million by Le10sport.

The French editorial claim the Ligue 1 club are hoping Moukoudi excels in the Championship and prompts offers from the Premier League in the summer.

Derby and Stoke are both short on central defensive options.

The Rams will need to find a long-term replacement for the sacked Richard Keogh while Curtis Davies, 34, is no longer a consistent performer at Championship level.
