Derby County have long held an interest in Darmstadt striker Serdar Dursun – but it looks like they could miss out.

The Rams need to secure their Championship status before going for big targets this summer, and that could see them lose out on Dursun.

Derby have been tracking Dursun for a while now, and had a bid of £900,00 rejected back in October according to Bild.

Rams fans still bombard Dursun with messages on Twitter when he plays well, urging him to make the move to Pride Park in the near future.

However, Bild now claim that Dursun has held secret talks with Hamburg ahead of potentially signing for them this summer.

Hamburg are hoping to return to the top flight, and sit just five points off the second automatic promotion spot, though Kiel in fourth have three games in hand.

Dursun is out of contract this summer and may be tempted by a move to Hamburg, given that he was born there.

The 29-year-old has hit 21 goals and six assists in 30 league games this season, and Derby would surely love to add him for free just over six months since offering almost £1million.

Hamburg now look to be favourites though, and unless Derby can get back in with an offer of their own, they may well miss out on the goal machine striker.
