Bowyer is to take his place in the stands after receiving a three-game touchline ban, and he’s not the only one who won’t be pitch side for the Addicks this weekend.

Israeli duo Hemed and Kayal, both summer signings, are back in training after injury layoffs but the Charlton boss confirms they are still some way off match fitness.

They’re back training but fitness wise they are off. It’s good to have them out there training. I think it’ll be too early this weekend but it’s good to have them back out training. We have to work on their fitness today and tomorrow and obviously they’re playing catch up from before.

Charlton Athletic defy Championship predictions:

Charlton have defied early-season prediction of relegation as they currently sit in tenth spot in the Championship table, a couple of points ahead of the Rams.

The London club, however, have lost three of their last five league games.

Derby are in contrast building momentum. The Rams have gone five games unbeaten, and they have welcomed back key players such as Jayden Bogle from injury.

Manager Phillip Cocu now has options to choose from. Krystian Bielik, who helped Charlton to promotion from League One last term, has shrugged off a thigh injury while players such as Graeme Shinnie, Chris Martin and Jamie Paterson are looking to establish themselves.
