Derby County have several talented youngsters who could benefit from a loan spell away from the club.

Over the years, Derby have built up a track record of developing youngsters through their academy who have gone on to flourish in the first-team.

Max Bird and Eiran Cashin are the current, most prominent examples, while the likes of Archie Brown, Jayden Bogle and Morgan Whittaker have risen to stardom elsewhere.

Derby are always looking to hold onto their best young talent and develop them in the best way possible, which is why they allowed Dajaune Brown to join Gateshead on loan in January.

The 18-year-old, who scored six goals in nine Premier League appearances, has since netted in his last two matches from the bench in the National League, a 96th-minute equaliser against Boreham Wood and consolation in the 3-2 defeat to Solihull Moors.

Brown is yet to start since joining Gateshead, however, those contributions may propel him into the first XI and inspire the Rams to send more of their youngsters out on loan in the summer.

Here are three youngsters Derby should send out on loan soon…

Max Bardell

Derby have high hopes for centre-back Max Bardell whose contract at the club expires in 2025.

The full-back made his first-team bow in an FA Cup tie against Torquay United last term and has also featured on the bench as an unused substitute this season.

Bardell, who can also play in the centre of defence, has made six appearances in Premier League 2.

Despite excelling in youth team football, a loan spell could be hugely beneficial for the 21-year-old as he hasn’t tasted much senior football as of yet.

Darren Robinson

Darren Robinson was crowned Scholar of the Season after impressing in the Derby under-21’s last term.

The tenacious midfielder, who can also play as a centre-back, recently captained the side to an incredible 4-2 victory over Manchester United in Premier League 2.

Still only 19-years-old, the teenager has been hailed as a “major talent” by journalist Josh Bunting and has a huge future ahead of him.

Robinson did make his Championship bow in the 2021/22 campaign and has since followed that up with three appearances in the EFL Trophy.

Sadly, Warne hasn’t placed his faith in the youngsters this term and that suggests Robinson could benefit from a loan away.

Tony Weston

Much like Brown, Tony Weston is another talented young striker who is making a name for himself in the under-21s.

The 20-year-old scored a brace and assisted in the 4-2 victory over Manchester United earlier this month, catching the eye of many across social media.

A lethal finisher of chances, Weston is approaching an age where a loan could be hugely beneficial for his career.

It’s a huge step up from playing youth football, but an appropriate one if he’s going to break into the first team at Pride Park.

Weston has already played twice in the EFL Trophy, scoring and assisting in the 4-1 win over Wolves under-21’s in November.
