Derby County and Preston North End went head-to-head in a Championship meeting at 3pm on Saturday.

The Rams went into the November international break left rather disappointed following a 1-1 draw with relegation contenders, Plymouth Argyle.

Despite dropping two points, Derby County headed into the latest round of matches sat 12th in the Championship table.

The Rams have been superb at Pride Park in 2024/25 but their record on the road was a concern going into the meeting at Deepdale.

Paul Warne’s men had picked up just one victory away from home prior to kick-off on November 23rd.

This saw Derby predicted to lose to Preston, who despite being 20th, have begun to pick up some solid results of late.

Derby County fans react to Jerry Yates vs Preston North End

Derby fell behind via a Sam Greenwood goal after 23 minutes but quickly bounced back with Jerry Yates netting an equaliser six minutes later.

Yates, who is on a season-long loan from Swansea City, now has four Championship goals this season – three of which have come in his last three games.

And after scoring against Preston, Derby fans have taken to social media to express their love for Yates, with some even touting the possibility of a permanent contract.

One fan wrote: “Jerry Yates baby! A man in form,” with another adding: “It’s that man again Jerry Yates!!! Jerry Yates na na na.”

A third Derby supporter stated: “I love you, Jerry Yates,” with another writing: “Any chance of a permanent transfer, Swansea?”

“Another set-piece goal! Jerry Yates can do it all,” a fifth Rams fan claimed.

A sixth fan added: “Jerry Yates scoring again. The man is on fire.”

Another fan simply stated: “Give that man a contract,” while an eighth added: “Jerry Yates at it again.”

Derby County should try to sign Jerry Yates from Swansea City

Derby wanted to sign a striker in August and at present, remain somewhat short of options up front.

A lot of business is not expected at Pride Park this winter but Warne will need to properly address his centre-forward department come the summer.

And with some Debry fans clearly now huge fans of Yates and his form improving with each passing week, the Rams should look to sign him permanently from Swansea.

But with the Welsh outfit currently below Derby in the table, they may be reluctant to strengthen a key rival even further for the coming seasons.
