Derby County face a trip to Deepdale for a Championship clash with Preston North End on November 23rd.

Prior to club football taking a break for the latest round of internationals, Derby County were held to a 1-1 draw by Plymouth Argyle.

Despite dropping points against a side fighting it out near the relegation zone, the Rams remain in a strong position heading into the latest round of fixtures.

Paul Warne’s men are 12th in the Championship table ahead of kick-off in Preston, while the Lilwyhites are down in 20th place.

It is, however, expected to be a close game amid the Rams’ struggles to pick up points away from Pride Park in 2024/25.

David Prutton thinks Derby will drop points against Preston, which is not too surprising as they have managed just one away win this term – 1-0 versus Coventry City.

Sam Parkin makes Preston North end vs Derby County score prediction

Despite sitting in 20th place, Preston have been able to hold their own against the likes of Sunderland and Norwich City in recent weeks.

This, coupled with Derby’s struggles on the road means a tough clash is expected for the Rams on Saturday.

Now, speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast, EFL pundit Sam Parkin has shared his score prediction for the game.

When doing so, Parkin claimed that Preston are going to be ‘too strong’ for Derby and backed a 2-0 home win.

He said: “I fancy a home win here. Yeah I fancy, I’ve said it for a number of weeks now, but I do fancy Preston North End to click into gear at some point.

“I think they will be too strong for Derby here. I’m going to go for them to win by a margin, 2-0.”

Former player could haunt Derby County in Preston North End clash

With the odds already stacked against Derby, their woes could be added to be a former player on Saturday.

Emil Riis could haunt Derby vs Preston, facing off with his former club after being released in 2018.

Riis is now a key figure for Preston and has three goals and two assists from 15 Championship appearances this season.

Derby have been given a welcome boost at centre-back ahead of the tie, however, with Eiran Cashin now set to return from suspension to help deal with the Preston centre-forward.
