Derby County hosted Plymouth Argyle in a Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon.
Derby County earned their first away league win of 2024/25 in midweek when they beat Coventry City 2-1.
That saw the Rams climb up to 13th in the Championship table but the battle in the bottom half of the division remains very tight.
Wayne Rooney returned to Pride Park with his Plymouth Argyle team on Saturday, kicking off the day just three points off his former side yet still sat in the relegation zone.
Paul Warne was without a couple of big names for the Rams’ latest fixture, including the suspended Eiran Cashin.
However, their excellent home form this season meant Derby went into the game as clear favourites to secure three points and potentially climb into the top half of the league if results elsewhere went their way in the 3pm kick-offs.

Derby County fans react to Jerry Yates vs Plymouth Argyle
Things got off to a superb start for the Rams on Saturday, taking the lead with just eight minutes gone.
Jerry Yates was the goalscorer, netting an absolutely insane overhead kick to open the scoring.
Derby fans were left in awe of the striker and took to X/Twitter to make their feelings clear.
One fan wrote: “Jerry Yates, I take everything I’ve said about you this last week.”
Another fan added: “Some goal from Jerry Yates,” with another writing: “WHAT A GOAL THAT WAS!! You don’t see Chris Wood do this?”
A fourth Rams supporter wrote: “Yates what a beauty,” while another added, with a pinch of sarcasm: “Jerry Yates has now scored in back-to-back games. Not a bad finish this one…”
A sixth Derby fan stated: “Jerry Yates. Talk about confidence…”. A seventh fan then wrote: “Jerry Yates you beautiful man.”

Jerry Yates finally finding form at Derby County
After netting against Plymouth, Yates has now scored three Championship goals this season.
And, for the first time in 2024/25, the striker has scored in back-to-back games for Derby.
The 27-year-old joined the Derbyshire outfit on loan from Swansea City over the summer but Yates was really struggling to find his feet in front of goal.
This was not an ideal situation for Warne, who has limited striker options available right now.
But it is clear Yates is now firing on all cylinders, which will no doubt bode well for Derby and their quest to remain in the Championship beyond 2024/25.
