Derby County and Coventry City clashed in a Championship fixture on Wednesday evening, with the Rams going in search of their first away win of the campaign.
The Rams went into the tie aiming to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stoke City this past weekend.
Derby County slipped down to 16th in the Championship table as a result of that defeat, ending any talk of what already seemed a far-fetched chance of a play-off push.
Right-back Joe Ward really struggled in that clash and Paul Warne opted to drop the fringe player for Wednesday’s meeting with Coventry City.
Nat Phillips came into the backline in his place while there was also a first league start of the season for 19-year-old Dajaune Brown.
Derby took the lead shortly after 10 minutes when Jerry Yates latched onto a loose backpass and fired the away side into the lead.

Ebou Adams praised during Coventry City vs Derby County
Yates was involved in the second goal of the evening as well, seeing his attempted cross deflected off a defender and into the Coventry net.
In truth, it was by no means an outstanding game and Derby fans were left frustrated vs Coventry despite the win.
However, one Rams’ ace did earn praise during the game from former player turned Sky Sports pundit, Lee Hendrie.
Hendrie was covering the fixture live on Sky and was quick to praise the work of Ebou Adams on the night.
He said: “How good was he? Absolutely fantastic. That’s what you get from having a top defensive midfielder. You know what you’re going to get from him.”

Derby County nearly didn’t sign Ebou Adams
Adams made the move to Pride Park from fellow Championship outfit Cardiff City in July of this year.
However, it has now emerged that the 28-year-old’s transfer to Derbyshire nearly fell apart.
Stephen Pearce has opened up on the Adams Derby deal recently, confirming that the club walked away at one point.
He said: “You get to a point where you end up just walking away. We did get to that point but that’s when it all clicked into place and they just thought they are serious now.
“We got to that limit where we wouldn’t go any further. But it all just clicked then.”
After another stellar showing against Coventry though, fans are no doubt pleased the transfer actually came to pass.
