One former Derby County man could potentially snap up a role with a top Italian side.
Over the previous few years, Derby County have had several high-profile names in-and-around the club, with some instantly recognisable names in England plying their trade for the Rams, either as a player or manager.
The likes of Wayne Rooney did both after initially arriving in Derbyshire as a player before hanging up his boots for the sidelines.
Ashley Cole is another high-profile name that made a shock move to Derby County, playing for them in the 2018/19 season, where he notched 11 appearances before he retired.
Cole played for several big sides throughout his career, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Italian side Roma. The former Rams man’s footsteps could potentially be followed after recent reports have suggested that a fellow former Derby County man could find himself involved as the manager of Roma.

Former Derby County manager Frank Lampard emerges as surprise candidate for Roma job
So far in Serie A, Italian side Roma have endured a tricky start to the 2024/25 campaign, with them sitting in 11th place after notching just 13 points in 11 outings.
As a result, the Italian giants may turn towards surprise managerial candidate and former Derby County manager Frank Lampard, per a report from Italian outlet Gazzetta, as the Englishman currently finds himself out of a job at this moment in time.
Current manager Ivan Juric’s short stint at the club so far has been far from brilliant, and he could soon be replaced, with Lampard’s experience with Chelsea and Everton potentially putting him in a good position to take up the role.

Frank Lampard spell at Derby County has kept him within contention for jobs
There is no denying that, although Derby County had a brilliant side under Lampard, he was a top manager during his stint at the club, and he deserved the move to a Premier League side following his tenure.
However, it has arguably been his only positive spell at a club in management, after his time at Chelsea didn’t end well, nor did it with Everton.
In fairness to the former Rams boss, he inherited tricky situations at both clubs following his time at Derby County, however, it is still safe to say that at this moment, Lampard is still hanging onto his time in Derbyshire as his only success in management up until this point.
