Liam Thompson has named two Derby County players that he ‘really enjoyed’ playing with yesterday.
Liam Thompson made only his second start since January as Derby County thrashed Leyton Orient this weekend.
The midfielder spent over three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury in the first half of the campaign, but has struggled to force his way into the team since returning to full fitness.
After starting in the 1-0 defeat to Northampton Town last month, Thompson had a spell on the bench before getting the nod yesterday.
Derbyshire Live hailed Thompson as ‘brilliant’ as he ‘ratted around’ during the victory at Pride Park, with the 21-year-old making 27 touches, completing 14 passes, making three tackles and one interception.
The youngster was one of many players who had a solid showing on home soil, while he has named the two ‘top players’ he really enjoyed playing with this weekend.
Liam Thompson loved playing with two ‘top players’
Speaking to the official club website, Thompson said: “I really enjoyed it. They are both top players.
“Ebou [Adams] is everywhere and brings quality and Korey [Smith] is the calm head in there that is constantly talking to you. We were landing on second balls which proved really important. I really enjoyed playing in there with those two.”

Ebou Adams has started every match since joining Derby on loan in January, while Korey Smith has forced his way back into the team in recent matches.
The importance of Ebou Adams
The pair have been vital in a really important run-in in the latter stages of the season, and there is no doubt that the Rams will have one eye on Adams’ future at the club.
The midfielder has been hailed as ‘immense’, ‘excellent‘ and ‘brilliant’ during his brief spell in the Midlands, and has undoubtedly made a huge contribution to Derby’s success in the second half of the season.
Derby need to try their best to get Adams to stay at the club, no matter what league they are in. Fans will be frustrated if he is allowed to return to Cardiff or even sign for one of their rivals.
