Derby County right back Kane Wilson has been full of praise for manager Paul Warne.

He has been under pressure as Rams boss after some disappointing performances and results, including the 1-3 defeat to Crewe in the FA Cup last week.

Wilson on the other hand has only really been used off the bench since his arrival from Bristol City in the summer, starting three of his 13 appearances in League One.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, Wilson spoke of how ‘good’ Warne has been with him since his arrival in the summer.

“The manager has been good with me.

“When I first joined, he was honest with me and just said you’ve come in later than everyone else but if you work hard, you’ll get your chance. I got my head down and obviously, I’d had a year of not playing, so I wasn’t match fit at all.

“For a few pre-season games I was blowing a little bit. He says that he sometimes falls out of love with me because sometimes I can be a bit sulky if I’m not playing.”

Wilson could become star for Derby

It is really good to hear Wilson’s positive words for the Derby boss.

Despite his lack of game time under Warne, Wilson still shows a clear desire to play for Derby for a number of years, and really wants to have a good relationship with the fans.

With star player Nathaniel Mendez-Laing injured, Wilson has been tipped as his ideal replacement.

His exciting dribbling and ball carrying ability provide the Rans with a real outlet down the right hand side.
