Derby County have made it three home wins in a row in the Championship after beating Cardiff City 1-0 at Pride Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams beat Bristol City 3-0 before the international break with Paul Warne picking up a huge win.

Nobody wants a trip to Pride Park right now and Cardiff City have become the latest victims of Derby County’s superb home form.

Kenzo Goudmijn scored the only goal of the game, sweeping Callum Elder’s cross into the back of the net.

Derby should have won the game 2-0 as midfielder Ebou Adams raced clear towards an open goal.

Adams somehow contrived to miss, leaving boss Warne to defend Adams whilst praising him for a fine display in the Derby midfield.

Derby County players rave about Kenzo Goudmijn

Goudmijn scored the winner, opening the scoring for a second game in a row.

The summer signing from AZ Alkmaar is making a big impact with Derby and has now been praised by teammates.

Left back Elder – the man who set up the only goal of the game – has praised Goudmijn as a simply ‘terrific’ player.

The praise has extended to Instagram too, after Goudmijn took to social media to celebrate his goal and three points.

“A goal and another good W at pride park,” said Goudmijn. “As always amazing support from the fans! Enjoy the weekend rams,” he added.

Teammates were straight in there to praise Goudmjin with midfielder David Ozah hailing the Dutchman as ‘too good’.

Eiran Cashin and Ryan Nyambe both sent their messages of support to Goudmijn whilst Nathaniel Mendez-Laing simply called him ‘the magician’.

Tawanda Chirewa simply stated ‘player’ after being impressed with Goudmjin whilst Kane Wilson responded with a wizard emoji.

Goudmjin living up to his billing

It’s clear that Goudmjin is dazzling his teammates right now and Derby fans no doubt feel a similar way.

Goudmijn only cost around £600,000 over the summer with Warne hailing him as an ‘exceptional’ signing at the time.

We are now seeing that billing come to fruition as Goudmijn has already scored twice in five Championship games.

For context, that is remarkably one more goal than Cardiff City have managed across five league games this season.

Goudmijn’s attacking ability from midfield has added a new dimension to Derby’s engine room and fans will be expecting more goals to come after a promising start.
