Derby County will be aiming for survival in the 2024/25 Championship season.

The Rams will be looking to build on their positive 2023/24 League One season that saw them return to the Championship via automatic promotion.

Several signings have been made to bolster Paul Warne’s options as well, with them certainly on track in gearing up for the new campaign, with the likes of Ben Osborn, Jerry Yates and Kayden Jackson all being brought in to provide the necessary Championship experience needed.

Derby County have also scoured the foreign markets as they made the exciting decision to sign Kenzo Goudmijn from Netherlands, as well as the expected arrival of goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, who has completed a medical at the club.

Signings are still yet to be made ahead of Derby County’s opening season clash against Blackburn Rovers, however they are in a decent position to stay up in the Championship.

With it being less than a week until Derby County kick off their campaign, Opta’s ‘Supercomputer’ predictions have made their mind up as to how the Rams will fare this season.

Opta predictions show Derby County survival from relegation

Derby County will be looking to stay up this season, and they will complete that fate according to recent Opta predictions.

Per Opta Analyst, Derby County have been predicted to finish in 19th place, with the Rams finishing above Oxford United, Plymouth Argyle and Cardiff City, all three of which are predicted to face the drop.

Derby County, who have been given an average of 58.1 points in Opta’s prediction, achieved 92 top two finishes out of 10,000 simulations and have been given an 18.5% chance of getting relegated to League One.

Does Paul Warne just need to achieve safety for a successful Derby County season

Derby County have made some shrewd signings ahead of the new season, with there being massive improvements throughout the side in comparison to last season.

Warne will be expecting his side to be continuing their momentum from last season into the upcoming Championship campaign, however anything more than relegation to League One can quite comfortably be regarded as a success in Derby County’s position.

The Rams must prioritise stability in their position and look to stake their claim in the Championship by not suffering relegation, with any further achievements deemed an added bonus to what would be a successful season.

Derby County fans must also cater their expectations of the side with the increased quality of the Championship and how even the lower profile sides are able to cause upsets and have good quality within their ranks to do so.

With their current squad, it would be unsurprising to see Derby County avoid the drop, however there still remains glaring omissions in the squad that must be plugged before the end of the window.
