Derby County star Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been hailed as ‘unstoppable’ after the victory against Bristol Rovers.

The Rams claimed a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon, with an own goal from Jack Hunt giving Derby the lead midway through the second half.

Former Derby striker Chris Martin then levelled for the away side in the 87th minute, who looked to have stolen a point for the Gas in the dying minutes.

But in-form winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing stepped up to score just two minutes later to give the Rams all three points, with the result pushing them into the play-off places.

Journalist for the Derby Telegraph, Leigh Curtis, gave Mendez-Laing an eight out of ten in his player ratings, praising his form of late.

“Had a big hand in Jack Hunt’s own goal and then fired in a winner in a late show from the winger who is in terrific form. Always looks like he will make something happen. Unstoppable at the minute.”

Mendez-Laing continues to impress

With Derby having struggled to score goals during October, Mendez-Laing’s form had been a shining light of hope that the Rams can start to put the ball in the back of the next on a more regular basis.

They now seem to be getting the hang of that though, after scoring 16 goals in their last six games in all competitions.

This has been a massive boost for Warne, who has previously spoken out on his ‘frustration’ with Derby not putting away many of the chances they create.

Mendez-Laing has now scored five goals in his last six games in all competitions, which shows just how crucial he has been to the Rams’ success recently, so Warne needs to try and keep him fit for the rest of the season if they are to mount any form of a promotion bid.
