Derby County midfielder Max Bird was hailed as ‘wonderful to watch’ after the Rams thrashing of Northampton Town.
Derby won 4-0 at Pride Park on Tuesday night, with a brace from Bird along with goals from Conor Washington and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing securing Rams consecutive home wins in League One.
The result will have eased pressure on manager Paul Warne from fans, despite the fact it has come out that the board will be backing Warne.
However, it was Bird who took the plaudits on Tuesday, and rightly so.
Derby star ‘wonderful to watch’
Journalist Leigh Curtis for the Derby Telegraph gave the 23-year-old an 8.5 out of 10 in his player ratings, and described his performance as sumptuous.
“A sumptuous performance from the midfielder who scored his first goals of the season with two well-crafted goals. Was here, there and everywhere. Wonderful to watch.”
Bird coming into his own
Bird looks to be coming into his own now after a few weeks back from injury.
The Derby academy graduate missed a month of action whilst he was on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
But looks to be now picking up his form once again that attracted interest from the likes of Championship side Hull City in the summer transfer window.
He now has three goal contributions in as many games after his brace on Tuesday night and an assist in last week’s 2-0 home win over Exeter City.
If he keeps this form up, we could see more interest from higher up the English football pyramid come the January transfer window.
