Derby County manager Paul Warne has said that owner David Clowes has told him to ‘keep rocking on’.
Warne has been under pressure recently as Rams manager from the fans but it has since come out that Warne has the full backing of the board.
It had been reported earlier on Monday that Warne would be sticking around as Derby boss.
Warne thankful for owner’s support
Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, Warne said that he was thankful to the owner for the support he gave him after Saturday’s defeat to Stevenage.
“I cannot bear losing or the team under perform and let everybody down. I’ve had this conversation with loads of people. We have come here to try to be successful, rebuild the club, and try to push it in a positive direction.
“But on the back of that performance and defeat, it’s depressing. It is. I come out of the dressing room, I am really down and I find it very difficult to play the media manager card and straight bat everything.
“I probably say things way too honestly. I did feel low, but the owner was there and just said keep rocking on and that’s fine. The dugout is a lonely place when you are 3-1 down with five minutes to go. But that was nice of him. I also know how much he is hurting because he wants the team to be successful.”
Warne to stick around
Paul Warne really comes across like a manager who really wants the best for Derby County.
Obviously the results have not been good enough though, with Derby sat in ninth position in League One, five points off the playoff positions.
Having the owner’s backing is a controversial decision, but it does look like Warne will be sticking around until early next year at the very least.
Warne will be looking to get his side back on track when they host Northampton Town on Tuesday night.
