One Derby County player is currently leading England’s top four divisions for a couple of really impressive statistics this season.
Among Championship-watchers, Derby County have arguably been the surprise package of the 2024/25 season so far.
The Rams were widely tipped to struggle following their League One promotion last season. But after 15 games of the Championship campaign, Paul Warne’s side have 19 points on the board, leaving them in 12th place of the table.
Last time out, Derby County drew with Plymouth Argyle at Pride Park. The Rams have now lost just one of their last seven in the league and next face Preston North End at Deepdale.
And for sure, one of Warne’s star men this season has been Ebou Adams. Derby County signed Adams from Cardiff City on a permanent deal during the summer after the 28-year-old impressed on loan with the Rams in the second half of the last campaign.

Ebou Adams tops England for tackles and interceptions this season
Adams is a very combative midfielder. He’s constantly going into challenges, winning the ball back, and starting attacks for the Rams.
So far this season, Adams has featured in all 15 of the Rams’ Championship games, starting 13 and finishing 12.
And in this month’s break, Adams has been on international duty with Gambia who’ve been knocked out of their AFCON qualifiers.
But it doesn’t take away from Adams’ positive 2024/25 season as he currently leads England’s top four divisions for tackles and interceptions (83 combined: 60 players tackled and 23 interceptions).

The players that Ebou Adams is outperforming for tackles and interceptions this season
Adams leads this statistic by five in the Championship with Sunderland’s Dennis Cirkin coming in 2nd.
More impressive is that no Premier League player comes close to matching Adams’ record of 83 so far, with the highest Premier League figure being 56, held by Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo.
In fact, Adams has more than twice the amount of tackles and interceptions (combined) than the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Amadou Onana at Aston VIla, Casemiro, and William Saliba.
For Adams, it’s been a very strong season so far. And for Derby County, the fact that they not only signed Adams, as well as other impressive names during the summer like Kenzo Goudmijn, but are subsequently performing well, is a huge credit to their current recruitment.
The Rams’ game against Preston kicks off at 3pm on Saturday November 23rd.
