One Derby County star has been named in the Championship Team of the Week following the win vs Cardiff City.
Derby County’s emphatic start to the 2024/25 Championship campaign continued at the weekend as they saw off a struggling Cardiff City side 1-0 at Pride Park.
It was a third successive victory at home in the Championship for Paul Warne’s side, who now sit 8th in the league after five games.
The Rams had many players reach incredible heights, most prominently Kenzo Goudmijn, who bagged a second consecutive goal of the season, with him being set up brilliantly by Australian full-back Callum Elder.
With the Team of the Week now released, it would be expected that Goudmijn would be one of the first names on the list of top performers in the Championship, however it is a surprise pick that represents the Rams in the team.

Derby County star Jacob Widell Zetterstrom named in Team of the Week
The Rams managed to keep their second consecutive clean sheet, with Swedish signing Jacob Widell Zetterstrom clearly settling into life at Pride Park following his arrival from Djurgardens.
He put in an emphatic performance for the Rams against Cardiff City, and his abilities to keep a clean sheet at home earned him a spot in the Team of the Week.
Whilst Zetterstrom performed brilliantly in-between the sticks, the Derby County defence consisting of the likes of Curtis Nelson and Eiran Cashin also put in an incredible display at the back.

Zetterstrom certainly made a significant impact for the Rams against Cardiff City, as he has done since he arrived at the Derbyshire outfit, and the stats most certainly highlight that.
Per Sofascore, the Swedish shot-stopper made five saves in the 90 minutes against Cardiff City, whilst also preventing 0.56 goals.
Whilst successfully keeping another clean sheet at home, he also showed plenty of assurance with the ball at his feet, with him tallying 39 touches throughout the game, as well as making 17 accurate passes, and seven long balls.
Zetterstrom most certainly arrived with plenty of promise from his performances in Sweden, however the way he has been able to adjust to the Championship so effortlessly will certainly be a massive boost for Warne.
When he first came in, there was lengthy debate as to whether he should come in and replace back-up goalkeeper Josh Vickers straight away, and as each week goes by, it even further backs up Warne’s call to bring Zetterstrom in at the earliest possible point.
