Former England international Carlton Palmer has told Derby County to sign Peterborough United striker Jonson Clarke-Harris.
The 29-year-old striker has been at Posh since arriving from Bristol Rovers in August 2020.
He has scored 73 goals in 147 league appearances since his arrival at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Derby had been previously linked to sign him back at the end of the summer transfer window.
Palmer says Derby need to sign star striker
Speaking to Football League World, Palmer said that Clarke-Harris should be one of the players should be looking at in the upcoming January transfer window.
“Bristol Rovers are rumoured to be revisiting the signing of Jonson Clarke-Harris in the January transfer window.
“Rovers had agreed a club record fee for Harris, believed to be around £800,000 but were unable to get the paperwork done in time to complete the deal.
“Last season, he netted 26 goals in 36 appearances for Peterborough in League One.
“He’s started slowly this season, only bagging four so far in 14 appearances.
“His record at League One level, it’s a no-brainer.
“He also scored over 30 goals in League One in the 2020-21 season.
“Certainly, Derby should be looking at him.”
Clarke-Harris would be ideal for Derby
Derby manager Paul Warne recently spoke of the potential signing of a striker in the January transfer window.
He alluded to scouting abroad in Germany and the USA for a striker though, as the Rams try to dip into different markets.
However, Clarke-Harris would be a great signing for Derby if they were to pull it off.
As Palmer said, Clarke-Harris is proven at this level and would also weaken one of Derby’s promotion rivals in Peterborough.
