Derby County made a number of signings in the summer, including a number of full backs, with the likes of Joe Ward, Kane Wilson and Callum Elder all joining in the summer.
However, all three have suffered injuries in the last month, which forced manager Paul Warne to dip into the free agent market and bring in Ryan Nyambe, who has done a stellar job at right back in Ward and Wilson’s absence.
With both of those players returning though, there will now be three players vying for a starting spot at right back. However, Warne seems to have a different idea.
Training video hints at new position for right back

In a training video that Derby released on their X account (formerly known as Twitter), the players are seen running what appears to be a game of ‘attack v defence’.
In this video, Ward specifically can be seen on the right hand side when defending, but when attacking he can be seen on the left, attempting crosses into the box with his weaker left foot.
This hints at the fact that Warne may be looking to play Ward on the left hand side, rather than his favoured right.
Could we see Ward at left back?
Ultimately, this will be down to the Rams now having three right backs with the arrival of Nyambe last month.
This does the pose the question as to what this means for Elder and legend Craig Forsyth.
Forsyth has been a regular on the left hand side, starting the last three games in Elder’s absence, after Elder was on the sidelines after requiring surgery on a hernia.
The Rams first game after the international break is away at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon.
