Derby County return to Championship at home to Bristol City on Saturday.

Derby County will round off August with a game against Bristol City at Pride Park.

The Rams currently sit in 15th place of the Championship table after a fairly mixed start under Paul Warne.

Last time out, Derby County lost 2-1 vs Watford at Vicarage Road, but beat Middlesbrough 1-0 the last time they played at home.

In midweek, Derby County were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Barrow, losing on penalties in what was a very poor night for Warne’s side.

Deadline day stands between Derby County and their game against Bristol City and the Rams could bring in one or two new players.

Per reports, Derby County are keen on Victor Adeboyejo at Bolton Wanderers, with Preston striker Will Keane also linked.

Warne though will still have a lot of focus on the Bristol City game, and the games ahead, with the Rams likely in store for a tough campaign in the Championship.

Sam Parkin shares Derby County vs Bristol City score prediction

Speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast head of the weekend, EFL pundit Sam Parkin has shared his score prediction for the game between Derby County and Bristol City.

The two teams last met in 2022 at Pride Park, with the Robins winning that game 3-1.

Derby haven’t beaten Bristol City since 2021, doing so at home during the 2020/21 campaign with Colin Kazim-Richards the only scorer that day.

Parkin said: “Can Derby repeat what they did against Middlesbrough?

“They’re going to have to win some of these games against teams that will probably be mid-table.”

Parkin added: “I’m going to go for Bristol City… I’l go for another 2-1 [win for Bristol City].”

Derby County must do one thing against Bristol City

Manning is a manager who was previously famed for having a very tactical and passing style of play.

It’s early days for him at Bristol City still, but his side have an average possession of 54% so far this season, showcasing their dominance of the ball.

So for Warne and Derby, not giving Bristol City as much of the ball as they’d like is key.

Like Parkin says, Derby will have to pick up occasional wins against these kind of team if they’re going to survive this season, and picking up wins at home is going to be vital.

Warne will have to make Pride Park a very cagey place to come, and not allow teams to play their own game.

If the Rams can come out of this one with a point then it would be a good result.
