Every Derby County player on international duty during September break and who they play

The first international break of the season is here and it gives Derby County a chance to reset before another busy month of action.

Paul Warne has guided the Rams to two wins and two defeats in the Championship so far this campaign, signalling a decent start to life back in the second tier.

The Derby boss will be looking to build on that as clashes against Cardiff City, Sheffield United, Norwich City, Sunderland and QPR await in September heading into October.

Before then, some stars from the team will be jetting off across the globe to compete in some international games.

The Pride Park faithful will be hoping that their key players can stay injury-free in that time while building some match sharpness.

So with that said, here’s a look at every Derby player on international duty over the September break.

Jacob Zetterstrom – Sweden

After making an impression in his first few games at Derby, Jacob Zetterstrom received a call-up from the Sweden squad for their upcoming international matches.

The goalkeeper has already played for his nation once in the past after his performances with Djurgardens.

Zetterstrom has impressed for Derby since making the £1.4million switch and will be looking to keep that up while with Sweden.

UEFA Nations League action awaits as matches against Azerbaijan and Estonia are on the fixture list this week.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing – Guatemala

Derby captain Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been called up to Guetamala’s squad for the international break.

CONCACAF Nations League action is up ahead for the winger, who has already played 11 times for Los Chapines since declaring for the nation in 2023.

Ebou Adams – Gambia

Midfield star Ebou Adams will be in action for Gambia as they compete in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification rounds.

The side will be looking to top their group which consists of Comoros, Madagascar and Tunisia for this stage.

Tawanda Chirewa – Zimbabwe

Derby loanee Tawanda Chirewa has received a call-up from Zimbabwe for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

The nation have a tough group as they take on Cameroon, Kenya and Namibia in hopes of earning a place in the tournament.

Darren Robinson – Northern Ireland U21s

Derby youngster Darren Robinson has been called up to the Northern Ireland under-21s squad for the coming internationals.

They are taking part in European Championship qualification, with a group that includes Ukraine, England, Serbia, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan.

Robinson is currently on loan at Hartlepool United, where he has made two appearances so far this season.
