Derby County host Championship rivals Hull City next at Pride Park as both teams look for an opportunity to climb further up the table.

Just one point separates the two teams in the second tier, with a mixed start for both in the opening 11 games of the season.

The Rams lead the way with Paul Warne picking up 14 points so far with four wins, two draws and five defeats.

Home form will be key for Derby after they picked up their first two points on the road against Millwall and Oxford United.

Hull will be looking to spoil the show at Pride Park, with Tim Walter’s side starting to pick up some form with two wins and one draw in their last five.

That includes a point against promotion hopefuls Burnley on Wednesday night, but it came at a cost for the Tigers.

Hull City star Liam Millar injured before Derby County clash

Hull star Liam Millar picked up a huge injury concern for his side in their draw with Burnley in midweek, forcing a substitution early on in the tie.

The Canadian international – formerly of Liverpool and Basel – seemed to skip over the challenge of Connor Roberts but fell awkwardly on his leg.

The winger went down clutching the back of his knee and after several attempts to continue, he had to come off.

It’s a huge blow for the side, with manager Walter revealing that he doesn’t know the extent of the injury, but there is a scan planned ahead of the weekend.

He told the press in his post-match press conference: “I can’t say anything because I was unfortunately in the stands.

“I just have to talk about the medical team because I didn’t see him. Hopefully, he’s good, but we have to take care of him and wait for the scan.”

It puts some pressure on a quick turnaround for Millar, given the side had a day less rest than Derby for the clash.

Derby County injury situation

While Hull will be looking to pick their players up quickly, Derby still have some injury concerns of their own to sweat over.

David Ozoh is inching closer to a return to the team but has yet to feature in a matchday squad since picking up a hamstring issue.

Kenzo Goudmijn is a slight doubt after Warne revealed that the midfielder was in some pain during the match against Oxford United.

Returns in the week for Callum Elder and Sonny Bradley has the squad at near full fitness, with Jake Rooney increasing his minutes with the academy.

Ryan Nyambe is a long-term injury concern after he injured his knee, with a wait time of four-to-six weeks on the cards.
