Jacob Widell Zetterstrom has been full of praise for Derby County signing Jerry Yates.
Derby County managed to snatch a decent point on the road against Preston North End, with the Rams solidifying a place in 11th position in the Championship with the result.
It marks three games unbeaten for Paul Warne’s side, who certainly look much more comfortable on their travels in comparison to the start of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, and that comes down to the more dependable goal threat up top for the team.
Jerry Yates is a summer signing who has come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks, notching yet another crucial goal for Derby County to level the scores against Preston.

Swedish shot-stopper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom has been a revelation since signing in the summer, but that didn’t stop him from praising a fellow teammate, who he states has been ‘great this entire season’, and that is on-loan Swansea City striker Yates.
Speaking to the club, Zetterstrom reflected on the attacker’s performance and how crucial he has been so far this season, as he said: “It’s just not about the goals. It’s his constant running and working, whether we have the ball or they do. He puts in the effort that you need and battles for second balls.
“He’s been great this entire season and these last few games he’s scored some very important goals as well.”
Yates has now notched four goals so far in the Championship, whilst also continuing two assists in 14 games. He has also scored in three successive games for the Rams.

As attacking options go, it is safe to say that Derby County are somewhat light in the area, therefore there was plenty of pressure on Yates to perform to the best of his abilities.
Despite a shaky couple of opening games leading the line, his Championship prowess is now certainly shining through for the Rams, and the stats certainly back that up.
Per SofaScore, he has managed to bag four goals in the Championship, despite recording an xG of 2.19, and has also managed a 27% goal conversion rate. His aerial ability has certainly been crucial up top, netting two headers so far.
If Yates can continue this brilliant goalscoring form, he can certainly help pull Warne’s side further up the table, something that is an exciting prospect with Derby County sitting just six points off the play-offs.
