Derby County midfielder Max Bird has said the Derby squad are ‘disappointed’ with their start to the season.
The Rams are currently sat in ninth position, two points off the play-off places after eleven games played. They are also the points off of league leaders Portsmouth.
Paul Warne’s side were expected pre-season to be fighting near the top of the table, but after a tough start, find themselves lower than where they want to be.
Max Bird says Derby need to be ‘unstoppable’
Rams midfielder Max Bird has claimed that the squad know that they are good but need to be ‘unstoppable’ if they are to push for the automatic promotion spots, following Warne’s comments earlier in the week.
“We said in the dressing room after the Notts County game that we’re good but we need to be unstoppable,” he told the Derby Telegraph.
“We know how good we are as a group and the manager knows that too. We need to demand more of ourselves. It can’t just come from the staff. It needs to come from within. We need to demand more in training and when we’re on the pitch. We will have a break but come back fresh ready to go again.”

Bird also said that the squad are ‘disappointed’ with the restart to the season, despite their recent good form, as they are unbeaten in their last even games in all competitions.
“We are disappointed with where we are really,” he added. “I know we haven’t lost for a while but while we have been good, good isn’t enough. We need to be phenomenal in everything we do and that is both offensively and defensively.
“We’ve had parts in games when we’ve dominated. We had the chances to win the game in the first half. We have to be ruthless and we have to be nastier with the ball and without it. We have to go from good to unstoppable.”
