Former Southampton, Stoke City and Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has backed Paul Warne to deliver as Derby County manager.
Warne has come under fire from Derby fans recently after some poor performances, with defeat to Stevenage and Shrewsbury Town in the last fortnight.
However, it came out on Monday that Warne will be backed by the board, as they do not want to make a knee-jerk decision.
Pressure was eased on the Rams boss on Tuesday night as Derby dispatched Northampton Town 4-0 at Pride Park in what was a comfortable performance.
Jones delivers verdict on Derby boss
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Jones spoke of his praise for Warne.
“Invariably most managers unless you are Pep or maybe Klopp you have tough times, it’s how you come through them, it’s part and parcel.
“Fanbases are sometimes unhappy for a number of reasons, sometimes it’s results, sometimes it’s style. But Warney is experienced, he’s got promoted three times. He’s philosophical, he knows what it takes.
“And I am sure it won’t affect him in any way and listen, the only way to keep fans happy, the only way is results. Derby have a strong enough squad and everything going for them there that they will get enough that will make sure Paul is fine.”
Warne should do better
Warne is a very experienced manager with a brilliant track record at this level, and with the squad at his disposal, on paper Derby should be near the top of the league.
For some reason that has not quite happened yet, some reasons could be the lack of goals or lack of physicality and aggression in the squad, which Warne has previously spoken about.
But if Tuesday night is anything to go by, the Rams should be fine for the rest of the season with Warne in charge.
