Eiran Cashin’s impressive 2023/24 season for Derby County was recognised at the PFA awards on Tuesday night.
Cashin has had some journey for Derby. He’s made 44 appearances, scoring three goals and helping the Rams to 22 clean sheets and the best defensive record in League One.
Paul Warne’s side earned automatic promotion with a second-place finish, five points away from title winners Portsmouth.
There were doubts over the defender’s future as a Derby player with interest from Premier League side Brighton before last season, however, the 22-year-old signed a new contract in January and will remain at Pride Park until 2027.

Eiran Cashin featured in PFA League One Team of the Year
The 22-year-old was awarded a spot in the League One Team of the Year after an excellent season for the Rams.
Cashin was Derby’s only player to win an award during the evening and has added the accolade to his impressive list of awards for last season.
The Irish defender won Derby’s Young Player of the Year, Supporters Player of the Year and the EFL’s League One Team of the Season after the Rams’ promotion.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Curtis Davies praise Eiran Cashin for award win
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Curtis Davies were both in attendance for the PFA awards on Tuesday night.
They saw Cashin get named in the League One Team of the Year alongside the likes of Birmingham City’s Alfie May, Oxford’s Cameron Brannigan and Portsmouth captain Marlon Pack.
Mendez-Laing congratulated the 22-year-old by posting on his Instagram story, he said: “Well done brother.”

Whereas former Derby captain Davies teased Cashin on his Instagram story by saying “Love it. Couple more of these to catch up with me.”

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing misses out on PFA award
It may come as a surprise that Cashin was the only Derby player to make the League One team of the year considering the excellent season that Mendez-Laing had.
The Guatemalan international was nominated for the League One Player of the Year but failed to win any award on the night.
The 32-year-old made 46 league appearances, scoring nine goals and a club-record 16 assists. He also had more goal involvements than any other player in League One.
Despite Cashin’s success, the Rams’ captain will be disappointed not to receive an award after what was a career year.
