Notts County manager Luke Williams was full of praise for Derby County, saying they were ‘ridiculously good’.
The Rams defeated Williams’ side 2-1 on Tuesday evening at Meadow Lane, with a brace from Louie Sibley leaving Derby on the brink of qualification to the knockout rounds of the EFL Trophy.
Junior Morias scored a penalty for the home side to halve their deficit.

Williams was clear however that his side played well, and that Derby were just too much for his players to handle.
“I am really happy with the performances of the players”, Williams told Notts’ YouTube channel.
“The opposition just ridiculously good and really could have been out of sight at half-time.
“But the ‘keeper made some brilliant saves, he got man of the match for a reason because he kept us in the game and kept it competitive because of what he did in the first half in particular and also the guys in front were just throwing their bodies in front of the ball.
“But Derby tore through us for a few times because they are so good, so much quality and experienced manager.
“So I am really, really happy because then we stayed in the game when maybe it could have been over.
“And then in the second half, I think we caused them a lot of problems and just the attitude and application of the players was brilliant and I am so happy with them.”
