Northampton Town manager Jon Brady praised Derby County as ‘incredible’ after the Rams thrashed the Cobblers 4-0 on Tuesday night.
A brace from Max Bird and goals from Conor Washington and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing secured all three points for Derby.
The result has eased pressure off of manager Paul Warne, who has received plenty of criticism the last few weeks. However, it has come out that he is being backed by the board.
Brady hails ‘incredible’ Derby
Speaking to the Derby Telegraph following the game, Brady hailed Derby for their performance, saying his side could not cope with them.
“They are an incredible team, they moved the ball brilliantly well with great rotations.
“We talked defensively about the way we had to move with the speed of the ball but when you have players who aren’t moving at the speed of the ball and leaving big gaps, it was plain to see in the first 15 minutes we weren’t at the races really.
“They were probably on a night at their best and we need to have every single player at 12 out of 10 to even have a chance of competing and our levels weren’t anywhere near that.
“We had little spells but we couldn’t get anywhere near their goal. Not being disrespectful to our players but they are a high-class team in the way they played and unfortunately we were below our standards to even try and get anything out of the game.”
Derby need to be more consistent
It is always going to be nice to hear the opposition manager like Jon Brady praise the Rams as much as he did.
It is a shame that Derby have not been able to produce these kinds of performances on a more consistent basis.
The Rams will be hoping this result can kickstart a run of form to push themselves comfortably into the playoff places, and hopefully they will hear more reactions like the one from Brady in the coming weeks/
They will be taking a break from League One action this weekend though, as they face Crewe Alexandra in the first round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
