Derby County manager Paul Warne has said that his squad missed out on an extended break after failing to beat Crewe Alexandra.
The Rams suffered a 1-3 loss at the hands of the Alex, which saw them be knocked out of the FA Cup in the first round.
The loss was in the replay, after managing to come back and draw 2-2 in the original fixture at Crewe just under a fortnight ago to earn the second fixture.
The performance on Tuesday has been slammed by Warne, fans and journalists alike, with some players being described as ‘desperately poor’ on the night.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph following the game, Warne said that the players would have had more time off had they won the game and put in a performance.
“If they had won all three games, I told them the truth, they would have had a longer period off.
“If they didn’t then I would see them Thursday. We’ll address everything I spoke to them about in the dressing room. I’ll show them what I’ve seen on the tape.
“We’ll then go and train and then they can have three days away from my voice. It’s not a punishment culture. It’s not like we lost the game and the gaffer is going to have us running up hills at 6am.
“It is a reward thing. If they had won three home games then I would feel like they deserved it. That’s how I know how they tried because they wanted the days off. We were just a bit short. Whether that was energy or anything else, it’s difficult to say after the game.”
Warne showing discipline is a good thing
It is good to see that Warne is showing discipline with the Derby squad.
Warne can come across as quite a nice guy all the time, so it is good to see that he can show his other side to the squad.
It also shows to the players that they will not be able to get away with playing poorly under his management.
