Derby County manager Paul Warne said that Derby’s 1-1 draw away at Cheltenham Town was ‘disappointing’.
The Rams extended their unbeaten away record in League One to four games on Saturday afternoon, coming from behind to snatch a draw through centre-back Curtis Nelson.
Nelson pegged the hosts back in the seventh minute of added time at the end of the first half, cancelling out Rob Street’s opener.
Street’s goal in the 39th minute was the Robins’ first goal they have scored in League One so far, failing to score in their previous eleven beforehand.
Paul Warne disappointed with draw but not defeated
Whilst finding the result a disappointment, Warne did not feel as though the result was as bad for his team as it may look, with the Rams having 17 shots to Cheltenham’s six.
Warne told the Derby Telegraph: “The result is disappointing. I don’t think it is a couple of steps back. We’ve dropped points in the last three games. We’ve got five when I think we should have nine.
“I am not going to self-implode because we have drawn away from home. I thought we created plenty of chances to have won handsomely but football is sometimes like that. You do everything you can to win a game and you can see how disappointed the team are, but we just didn’t take our chances in unbelievable positions.
“Fundamentally that is the hardest thing to do in football which is to create chances. We just didn’t take them. I will watch it back, decipher it but we came here to try to win. In fairness, they battled for everything but it is disappointing and you will see how down the lads are. But I thought we did enough to win the game and I would think most people in the stadium would agree.”
