Derby County manager Paul Warne has said he went to owner David Clowes’ house and had a ‘really good’ meeting with him discussing his future.
Warne has been under pressure recently from the fans after some poor performances, despite only two losses in their last eleven games in all competitions.
It had previously been reported earlier on Monday that the board were still fully behind Warne as manager.
Warne on ‘really good’ meeting with owner
Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, Warne spoke about the meeting he had with Clowes and Chief Executive Stephen Pearce.
“It was a really good meeting,” Warne said. “It was organised a bit ago and I went round to his house at the weekend. It was about what difficulties I am finding, how they can help me and what I was hoping to do in the transfer window.
“But as weeks have gone by, and it’s not like we didn’t know prior to the window shutting, it’s become evident that we need to change a few things in the team to be successful is the best way to put it. It was a lot about that, the structure of the club, how we see the next couple of windows. it was a lot of that and a general chit chat and I showed David and Stephen some of the clips from the game on Saturday.
“I’ve always been candid and if David wanted it, I would show him every week all the good bits, this isn’t so good and these are my frustrations,” Warne added.
“It was good and I enjoyed it. I stopped at Starbucks and bumped into a Derby fan and thought I was going to get pelters. He was really nice to me then I met another Derby fan in David Clowes. That was the meeting in a nutshell really.”
Derby have not been as good as many expected them to be.
Currently sat in ninth in League One, The Rams were expected to be near the top of the table.
But they seem way off being near that quality so far, so Warne has a lot of work to do to get results back on track and the fans back on side.
