Derby County’s Pride Park has been handed a surprising verdict by one pundit.

Derby County’s home form so far in the 2024/25 Championship campaign has been nothing short of incredible, especially for a newly-promoted side.

Paul Warne’s side have managed four wins in five at home, with the solitary defeat coming at the hands of Norwich City, in a controversial game that saw the Canaries wrongfully given two goals that should have been disallowed.

Whilst there are still severe issues on their travels, as shown by the fact that they are yet to pick up a single point away from home, Derby County are without a force to be reckoned with at Pride Park, and there is no doubt that this partly comes down to the brilliant atmosphere and turnouts shown so far by Rams fans.

However, Pride Park has received a bit of criticism from one pundit who has made a claim about ‘history’ in regards to the Derby County stadium.

Adrian Durham makes ‘history’ claim over Derby County’s Pride Park

Derby County moved to Pride Park from the Racecourse Ground back in 1997, and the 32,000 seater has certainly felt like home for many Rams fans.

However, it has received some criticism from pundit Adrian Durham, who per the TalkSPORT website, has said regarding Pride Park: “Cardiff, Derby and Swansea [stadiums] are all exactly the same. They’re all new-ish grounds. They’re decent grounds, but they could be anywhere.

“I don’t go there and think, this is all about Swansea and their history or Derby and their history.

“It [Pride Park] doesn’t stick in the memory and just doesn’t feel unique to me.”

Derby County’s Pride Park has seen some incredible teams visit since its creation, including the likes of Barcelona, Lazio and Ajax.

Derby County fans will all disagree with Adrian Durham over one thing

Whilst the initial plans for Pride Park were loosely based on Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium, there is no doubt that the Derby County stadium is unique and has certainly been a more than brilliant home for Rams fans.

The comparisons to Swansea City and Cardiff City are also incredibly far-fetched, especially when you compare the three places on a matchday. Whilst the two Welsh giants conjure up a decent atmosphere, there is no coming close to Derby County at Pride Park, and this has clearly made a significant difference this season.

As a 32,000 seater stadium, there aren’t many better in the Championship than Pride Park, and for Durham to name it as just the 14th best in the second-tier is incredibly lower than what it deserves.
