One Derby County substitute has certainly earned a place in the starting side after his showing vs Norwich City.

Derby County were unfortunate to lose out 3-2 at home against Norwich City, which put an end to a three game winning streak at Pride Park.

The Rams will most certainly feel hard done by after Norwich went ahead through Borja Sainz, who scored after the ball looked to have gone over the touchline prior to Josh Sargent’s lunge to cross the ball.

Paul Warne will most certainly take many positives from his side’s inspired performance, which notably saw Craig Forsyth successfully replace the injured Callum Elder, and the Rams’ boss made some inspired changes that almost sparked an incredible comeback at the death.

One of Warne’s changes were able to make an instant impact, and he could potentially be considered to start future games after a brilliant, yet short showing.

Derby County substitute Corey Blackett-Taylor makes instant impact vs Norwich City

Rams winger Corey Blackett-Taylor came on for only his second substitute appearance for Warne’s side, with him looking to make an impact as his side trailed to Norwich City.

It didn’t take long for him to score an emphatic goal, which saw him cut onto his right foot from outside the box, and arrow it past Angus Gunn in-between the sticks for Norwich City.

Blackett-Taylor’s goal almost inspired an emphatic comeback for Warne’s side, which will have led them to a well-deserved point, and there will be no surprises if we see more of the quick and tricky winger from this point onwards.

Corey Blackett-Taylor should be rewarded for his patience

Since Blackett-Taylor’s arrival at the start of 2024, he has been handed just five starts for the Rams, and there are no doubts that he has been out of contention for some time.

The Derby County winger has struggled to cement his place in the side, and has certainly not been handed much of a chance to recreate the talents and brilliance that he showed in abundance during his time at Charlton.

Warne must recognise at this point that Derby County winger Blackett-Taylor has sat patiently waiting for his moment, and he must be rewarded with a start next time out against Sunderland.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was unable to make a significant impact against Norwich City, and looked to be somewhat of a liability, which could only improve Blackett-Taylor’s chances of getting what would be a deserved start.
